Gear
There are 6 pieces of gear in Abbasiyah. Gear has currently proven to be random. Through multiple playthroughs I’ve seen the same weapon in different locations. So don’t worry if you don’t get what is in the video. You should, however, always get a weapon before you get the upgrade schematic for it.
House of Wisdom – Key is on the northeast rooftop with a civilian.
The Four Markets – Southwest corner, house by the bridge.
Scriptorium – Approach from the east side
Hammam – Go through the side wall in the front garden to the west side for a breakable window. Get an oil pot to throw at the western wall.
The Great Bimaristan – Go up the east wall.
Scholar’s Estate – Key to gear chest is on the second floor, east side.
House of Wisdom
There is a man on the rooftops that holds the key over the east side. Once you get the key, head back to the north side and up the back. Throw a knife holding the chandelier through the window to break the floor boards so you can get into the upper area of the locked rooms.
The Four Markets
Head around the back of the gear building on the second floor and throw a knife at the oil jars inside to open up the flooring. Then head north for the key. There are three keys in the market. You want the one to the north on a man inside a house that you have to pick pocket. The man with the knife is around the 2:00 mark in the video. Head back to the gear house and open the side room for an oil jar you can throw at the back of the gear building.
- Four Markets Door Key – found on a guy that can be pick pocketed on the west side. Use the bird to find him, but start at the bridge in the southwest next to the gear house and go up north from there. This key does NOT go to the gear house. And it does NOT go to the locked loot box above the horse stall. This one opens a locked house on the east side of the market. See the video link below.
- Four Markets Chest Key – found on a guy on the east side of the market checking out stalls. He’s followed closely by a guard. You have to pick pocket him. This one unlocks the loot chest above the horse stall.
- Four Markets Storage Key – found on a guy in a building north of the Four Markets Central Building. He’s upstairs. This key will get you into the gear house.
Scriptorium
I found it easiest to get on the east side roof. Note there is a marksman here. You can drop down to a balcony off the gear room from this side.
Hammam
There were guards here when I got the gear at the Hammam and I don’t know why because my friend also got the gear here and there were no guards. So if there are there guards, this video is for you. 🙂 I just went through the front garden broken wall and snuck past the door to the bath house to a breakable window where you can find an oil jar to throw at the outer west wall.

I came in from the river side and used the focus skill to take out the two guards that are outside the room with the key to the gear chest. Then the gear room has a breakable window that you can get into by the training area.
Lost Books
There is 1 lost book in Abbasiyah. Lost books can be returned at the House of Wisdom in the west side of Abbasiyah. It’s west of the Observatory Synchronization Viewpoint.

The Enigma page can be found at the Mosque Synchronization Spot, on a table underneath. It refers to the little pond area just north and down from the Dome of the Ass.
A Challenge
The Enigma page can be found southeast of House of Wisdom, on a balcony, southeast of the trader marker, by the big tree. It refers to the building between the water wheels in the Gate of Tahir area. Stand by the barred door and throw a knife through the window next to it at the barred window on the other side.
The Gift
The Enigma page can be found west across the bridge from the Pharmacy of Haylanah. Head west out of the city along the river right there and it’ll be by the bridge on the rocks, near the wrecked cart.

A Life’s Work
This one can be found at the Observatory Synchronization Viewpoint. It’s the gentleman complaining about pain just outside the building. He’ll ask you to collect 3 pages of his treatise for him. Two are inside the building/roof and one is on the building next door.
Blade in the Crowd, Tool in the Shed
This one can be found north of the Dome of the Ass and west of Pharmacy of Haylanah. Use the bags of spices to hide the assassinations. No matter which one you choose to go after first, the kid will mess up the second one and you’ll have to fight two more guards.
