Encrypted vaults are the standing casket like looking things in the game that you can find by using your ecive (on Playstation it’s the R3 button). They’re often near the green holograms you see in the world. They give an audio cue when your descendant scans the world when facing in their direction. The encrypted vaults in Sterile Lands drop Negative Ion Particles which is used in the crafting of the Wave of Light Polymer Syncytium. In order to open a vault you’ll need to have looted a Code/Precision Code/Ultra-Precision Code Analyzer. These can be found on enemies in the Call of the Descendant missions in each region. Note that not all encrypted vaults will spawn every time. This list will be updated if I find more. If you find a hologram that’s not on my list and want to leave it in a comment, I’ll add it and credit you. 🙂
Also, you don’t need to know where the green hologram is to find them, but I’ve included them in the photos below (where i saw one) for help in directions and getting your bearings. Also, if you’ve found a green hologram and can’t find the corresponding vault, that will help you narrow down the vault below.

Classified Area Encrypted Vaults
I have found 7 encrypted vaults in the Classified Area of Sterile Lands. The numbers on the map correspond to the list/pictures below.
1. If you go south from the starting outpost you’ll come across a cave. The hologram for this one is just outside of the cave and the vault is inside the cave down on the left side.
2. For the second one, head to the courtyard that’s just before the Weapons Engineering Facility marker. Turn east and look up. Grapple up to the opening and follow it to the vault.
3. On the southwest side, on the walkway that follows the building is a ramp to the south. This is where the hologram is. The vault is past the marker to the south behind a large box.
4. The fourth vault is near the Unknown Laboratory. The hologram is by the transporter in this area.
5. I didn’t find a separate hologram for this one, but it’s down the walkway from Unknown Laboratory, overlooking the Vulgus Strategic Outpost below.
6. North of the VSO is another hologram in the dirt. This vault is above that hologram along the northern edge of the map.
7. I didn’t find a hologram for this one either, but the last one that I found is just below #6 to the east. It’s behind the northern building and you can go through the building and exit out the north door to find this one.
